Introducing In The Studio: A Marwen Podcast!



In the Studio with Teaching Artists Podcast highlights artists' experiences co-teaching Marwen studio courses for Chicago youth.


Meet the inspiring artists that teach at Marwen that includes a Teaching Artist, Emerging Artist, Young Artist in high school, and Marwen staff support! Go behind the scenes as teaching artists co-design, plan, and facilitate virtual classes centered in creative youth development. In each episode, you’ll learn how the teaching teams meet weekly to dream, reflect, plan curriculum, and support young artists. You’ll have an intimate look at the new Marwen cohort model, who the teaching artists are facilitating courses, and insight into teaching art online.

EPISODE 1: DESIGN TO PRINT

In this episode go on a journey with the visionary co-facilitators of Design to Print; Ash Vasquez, Sarita Garcia, and Maricela Ramírez. Learn how commissioned artists in 10-12th grade used drawing, painting, and illustration to design greeting cards and experience the business of art. Ready to be inspired and go behind the scenes to how they’ve centered young artist leadership and joy while navigating teaching and collaborating virtually?


 

EPISODE 2: MARWEN LAB

In this episode meet the inspiring co-facilitators behind Marwen Lab; Aileen Castro, Joselyn Corona, Davita Miranda, ​​Allen Moore, and Rachelle Hill. The Lab Residency is a year-long immersive program designed to support young artists in the development of their arts practice. Get comfy and listen to highlights & challenges from teaching art online, strategies to build community, and biggest takeaways from the experience!


 

EPISODE 3: LIVING PICTURES

In this episode join the joyful teaching team who co-design the Marwen course Living Pictures. Meet teaching artists Jade Wong, Karolina Bermudez, Eason Bragg, and Kate Adams who held space for community building and authenticity. In Living Pictures young artists experimented and let their creativity run wild to make flip books, storyboards, GIFS, and stop motion animations. Discover the special sauce that everyone brings to the table.
