Riley (they/them) is a graduating 12th grader who joined Marwen in 2023 and has taken 16 classes and workshops! Riley has tried several different classes, including Rug Making 101, Beyond the Snapshot: Photography, Extraordinary Everyday Objects: Ceramics, It's Alive! Horror Films, Tattoo Design, and many more. One of Riley's favorite classes was Graffiti Painting: Murals.
"Graffiti art was a fun and challenging class."

Riley has said that discovering the classes at Marwen has let them be part of a great community and that practicing these different art forms has become a way to be more expressive and to calm their nerves.

Visual arts aren't Riley's only interest, though. They're also a big fan of 90s TV like Friends and classic episodes of Saturday Night Live featuring comedians like Chris Farley. But a main source of inspiration for Riley is music. They even shared their talent for singing with our community at Marwen Summer Bash in 2024 with some classic Elvis songs!
"Music has always been a huge part of my life. It calms me and acts like a best friend."
Riley is graduating this year, and we want to congratulate them and wish them well in their next adventure. And we hope they visit us and continue to join us at Marwen events in the future!
Marwen young artists bring boundless creativity and enthusiasm into the studios, and now they can submit their art and ideas to be featured around the building and on social media! Marwen's Young Artist Spotlight series offers young people an opportunity to promote themselves and their art to the Marwen community and beyond.
Each term (Spring, Summer, and Fall), we will choose one high school and one middle school artist to feature. Young people can submit their work by completing the survey below.
